ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

Creating Novel Ideas in Healthcare

There is a real need to turn great ideas and projects into products that can be applied in the daily lives of patients, hospitals and the entire healthcare system. Projects developed in academia or in laboratories find it difficult to reach managers, partners and healthcare industries. Today, INNOVATION is no longer a possibility but has become a COMPETENCE to be acquired by people and companies that want to undertake and continue to grow in the market. The program was created by the need to learn about these innovation tools and allow the knowledge produced to be transformed into a product/service and generate value for the healthcare system.

This program aims to address these critical gaps and inspire participants and companies to consider this challenging and rewarding path to becoming a healthcare entrepreneur. In this process, we will discuss the basic principles of Inspiration & Leadership, the importance of identifying and working on the validation of the PROBLEM with a focus on the patient/client, working on the prototype or process and its validation from the Proof of Concept, Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and rigorous scientific laboratory and clinical research tests, business model strategies, including market knowledge and STAKEHOLDERS, in addition to investors, management of a STARTUP and its internal governance models, and marketing, commercialization and sales strategies.

During the program, participants will develop and test their ideas, build a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and write an initial business plan for that idea. Participants will present their ideas to the program's faculty, including investors, hospital managers and experts in innovation and entrepreneurship, and at the end of the program, the best projects will be presented to invited healthcare system evaluators as a potential real idea to be commercialized. The ultimate purpose of this program is to make participants understand the way to launch their ideas and truly market high technology.

Participants will be encouraged to choose among the main paths of the innovation process:

Social Entrepreneurship and Non-Profit Organizations
Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Wearables and Health Softwares
Medical devices (external devices, implantables, tissue engineering)

"I was attracted to the Scholars in Medical Innovation program because it was a perfect mix of the science behind innovation as well as the business fundamentals to take your innovation to market. During the six modules, lectures and forum discussions were highly interactive and I particularly enjoyed the dynamic of sharing useful resources throughout the duration of the program. Needless to say, the invited speakers were amazing and so willing to share their knowledge with all of us, they really opened my mind and changed my perspective about healthcare innovation. Prof. Fregni and Prof. Lazzaretti did an amazing job making me feel included and welcomed. I highly recommend this program for everyone wishing to learn more about translating ideas to useful and successful medical innovations".
