Orthopaedics

An ageing population fuels growth in the orthopaedic devices market and creates investor interest in new innovations.

The Yorkshire and Humberside region has an exceptional concentration of orthopaedic companies, and is a major centre for clinical and orthopaedic engineering research. So the annual Medical Innovation Forum in Harrogate provides a valuable opportunity for orthopaedic device manufacturers and their supply chain partners to meet-up with another to explore collaboration opportunities, better understand the R&D landscape and gain an insight on likely future clinical requirements.

The pre-arranged meetings service enables participants to identify potential partner organisations for: enhancing orthopaedic manufacturing processes, managing clinical trials; and reviewing innovative materials and processes.

A programme of roundtable discussion groups are being staged so as to bring together participants who share common interests.

Discussion groups already confirmed include:

Discussion Group: Orthopaedic Trauma
Professor Peter Ogrodnik, Prof of Engineering Design – Staffordshire University and Managing Director - Intelligent Orthopaedics Ltd

Discussion Group: Artificial Joint Replacement
Hossein Saidpour, University of East London

Discussion Group: Orthopaedic Implant Testing: Friction, Lubrication and Wear
